Apple's iOS 5 is out, and if you're like me, you've already updated your iPhone 4 and iPad 2, or you'll be getting your new iPhone 4S soon. Either way, you're probably wondering about compatibility with Kerio Connect. Here's a short Q&A that should answer some of your questions.

Does Kerio Connect support iOS 5?
Yes! iOS 5 will officially be supported in Kerio Connect 7.3.0 (currently in public RC1, which means we are really close to public release).

Starting with the Unified Account Assistant to simplify the life of Mac users, all the way to storing digital certificates in Kerio GAL to take complexity out of sending and reading encrypted mail, the new Kerio Connect 7.3 is stronger than ever.

Often I hear these questions: Why do you not support every new phone that comes out? They are all Exchange ActiveSync-based. Why do you selectively choose to support one and not the other? Why does one Motorola Droid model run fine and the just-released Droid needs to go through some testing?

For Mac users, today is the day. The highly anticipated Mac OS X 10.7 Lion just hit the market and we're sure that many of our Mac-focused customers are excited to deploy it. In fact, we are excited as well.

With Apple Mail boasting attractive new features in Mac OS X Lion, you might be wondering when Kerio Connect will support everything the new OS has to offer. This is a question customers have been asking ever since Steve Jobs announced Lion was on its way. The answer is: we will fully support the new Mac OS X Lion in our next release of Kerio Connect.

As you probably know, we launched the latest version of Kerio Connect last month. And, if you are a regular reader of this blog, you know one of the major features of Connect 7.2 is its native support of Microsoft Outlook 2011 for the Mac audience. Looking at the big picture, the hard work (and it was hard) we completed to offer native Outlook 2011 support is an example of Kerio's philosophy to offer an OPEN communication platform that supports as many platforms, clients, and devices as possible.

It's been a long time coming - Kerio Connect 7.2 includes native support for Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac. Mail, calendars, contacts, tasks and notes as well as public folders, categories etc. are all synced with Kerio Connect.

The latest beta version of Kerio Connect 7.2 is now available for public testing. Beta 5 will run on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, and has progressed significantly with the long-awaited Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac support.

One thing is very clear to me - we have seriously underestimated the engineering effort needed to make Outlook 2011 work with Kerio Connect. You gave us a lot of grief for that, and rightly so. On behalf of Kerio, I am very sorry for the frustration we have caused to you, our loyal customers and our dedicated partners.

For many Kerio Connect customers, Microsoft Entourage is the email and groupware client of choice. We made the decision years ago to support Microsoft Entourage operating in the Exchange mode, which provides calendar and contact synchronization on top of the usual email, and it has been a hit.

Microsoft earlier this year announced a new version of Office for Mac with an update of its default groupware client - both in functionality and name. Outlook 2011 will replace Entourage 2008 in the new Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 suite, planned for a late October launch.

In this economy companies are looking for ways to get "more bang for the buck". That is to say, leverage as much as they can, for every dollar spent. This is especially true of companies that have chosen a Hybrid Email hosting account for their domain.
