Distributed Domain: Bringing offices together
Before we launched Kerio Connect, we had a customer who was trying to implement groupware across multiple offices with multiple servers in many locations. When companies have large numbers of people or more than one location, they may think twice because everyone points back to the same mail server. That mail server is the biggest single point of failure. How can we mitigate that risk?
Similarly, a school district's chief technology officer asked for a design that would incorporate a server in each of the schools in his district. At the same time, he wanted to ensure that every email address in the school district had the identity of the same domain. How can this be done efficiently and logically?
Kerio Connect is designed for small to medium businesses with multi-sites across several regions. One of the new features that I am particularly excited about is Distributed Domain. Distributed Domain allows email servers in multiple locations to be connected together in a single domain. Now, our customers can use a directory service to find out where email is supposed to go. It allows you to host the same mail in multiple locations with a local IT administrator for faster delivery and a new level of autonomy.
I will be giving a webinar Wednesday March 10th to show you some of the services that can be utilized across the domain, even if the domain has geographically dispersed email servers. You will see how all of your users can access a Global address list (GAL), reserve resources for scheduling purposes, look at free/busy information and effectively plan meetings with your colleagues in the distributed domain.
I will illustrate how simple it is to migrate a user from one location to another within an organization. I will also show that the real ROI is delivered by not having to make additional investments in specialized resources to easily expand your business.
