Kerio Unveils its Mobile Multi-Touch User Interface in Kerio Workspace 1.1

The online collaboration and file-sharing destination gives teams and small businesses the ability to share, create, and work together in a secure online location

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 27, 2011 -Kerio Technologies, Inc. today announced Kerio Workspace 1.1, an online file and content sharing platform with a new touch-based mobile web interface for the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry smartphones. Users can now navigate Kerio Workspace with the native look and feel of a smartphone app, display pages with full colors and layout, navigate between page elements, and display their News Feed.

"Online file sharing and collaboration now clearly extends beyond the PC," said Scott Schreiman, CEO Kerio Technologies. "Smartphones and tablets have changed the way we consume information and interact with our colleagues. The collaborative experience from the mobile device is being revolutionized by a new generation of touch-based interfaces. Kerio Workspace 1.1 brings a new level of sophistication and instant access to content previously locked inside the corporate intranet to the mobile phone with the elegance of a native app."

Packed with new usability improvements and rock solid security, Kerio Workspace 1.1 is available for small and medium businesses as a cloud or on-premise solution. It also fits seamlessly into a VMware virtual environment.

More interactive than a simple file transfer service, but much less cumbersome than many of the so-called collaboration products on the market today, Kerio Workspace's simple design allows users to easily create and organize pages for sharing documents, text, multimedia content and more. Since the introduction of the product six months ago, more than 300 organizations and 10,000 users have rapidly adopted Kerio Workspace and have been collaborating through its intuitive Web interface where all members of a department or team have the ability to provide feedback and approval.

Created upon a social-networking foundation, Kerio Workspace 1.1 provides News Feeds. News Feeds are alerts and status updates that empower each contributor to notify their colleagues of changes, feedback and approvals for any project. Similar to popular social-networking status updates, each user has the ability to configure Workspace to receive News Feeds so they only receive updates about projects that are important to them - and they can choose to get them via email alert or on their "wall."

"Kerio Workspace eliminates the need to send email attachments to gather feedback and effectively solves the 'Are you working off the most current version' question that has plagued business communications," said Tony Dennis, president, TCM Consulting, a Kerio Preferred Partner. "Already much less painful than many products that are aimed at the enterprise, this version of Kerio Workspace makes it even easier for small businesses to begin using the product to its fullest capabilities."

Kerio Workspace 1.1 can be deployed in an on-premise server, and hosted via the cloud by a Kerio Partner. New Features include:

  • New Mobile Interface for Smartphones - A new web interface for smartphones, written in the Sencha Touch framework. It allows on the go employees to switch between Page columns using a carousel control, do a full text search, preview uploaded files, and display News Feed comments. IPhone, Android and BlackBerry phones are supported.
  • "Duplicate this Page" - A productivity shortcut, users can copy just the page layout and empty components with titles or a complete copy, with all images, videos and files. In this case, the server is smart enough to avoid wasting disk space by keeping track of duplicate content and storing each copy only once.
  • Drag and Drop File Uploading - A new uploading interface based on HTML5 capabilities in modern browsers. Uploading files is one of the most frequently performed tasks in the product and the new UI supports drag and drop from the user's desktop or local folder.
  • Content Admin Mode - Allows IT administrators to see all spaces and pages, regardless of sharing rights. Admins can also now enforce security policies, and migrate a local user database to an Active Directory or Open Directory service with ease.

Kerio Workspace 1.1 is currently available as a hosted or on-premise solution from authorized Kerio Partners and resellers. Pricing starts at $150 for a 5-user license. Additional user licenses are $30 each. New and existing Kerio Connect customers can purchase Kerio Workspace 1.1 for the promotional price of $9 per user. The product is available in 16 languages.
